Week 1 ~ Day 2

Study Note:

Our brains are trained to skim; to process what we consider is the most important information to grow and survive. Often as we read articles containing scripture we pass over the actual Word written out because our brain signals us, “We know that scripture, go read what the author is trying to tell you about it.” This automatic sifting in our brain is missing out on the vital Word our soul is longing for to increase and become free.

Begin to change the way you read. When you come across scripture, stop. Read them intentionally and let God reveal them to you. His Word is more important that any of man’s word, even when we are breaking down scripture.

The more you read the scriptures, the more weighty peace will transform you.

Dear Friend,

So often we forget how complete and awesome God’s work on the cross was for us personally. It is almost like we see Jesus dying and rising again from the dead as a “chance” for us to “maybe” walk in the promises of God. If we are good enough for the rest of our lives and if we never ever, ever make a mistake then “maybe just maybe” it will work for us. Those are a lot of “ifs” that negate all the power of God.

Colossians 2:14-15 (AMPC)
14 Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands, which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross.
15 [God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].

Does that sound like a conditional promise or a weak move on God’s part? He actually disarmed all the power the enemy had over us and showed everyone how defeated the enemy is by Jesus’ victory on the cross. The struggle for us is when we stop looking at the power of God in our lives and refocus on our humanity. The enemy actually wants us to only focus on the old sin nature, the person we were without God’s power in our lives. That person cannot live in victory or recognize God as their Father, Defender and Provider. Yet that person doesn’t exist anymore. That person/that nature is an imagination, a memory.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMPC)
Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

1 Peter 1:23 (AMP)
For you have been born again [that is, reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] not of seed which is perishable but [from that which is] imperishable and immortal, that is, through the living and everlasting word of God.

The New King James Version (NKJV) actually calls it an “incorruptible seed”. When the enemy tries to bring up distressful thoughts of failing or weakening, they are completely untrue. They are lies! God says we are actually born from an incorruptible seed, one that cannot be corrupted—debased, made inferior, perverted or altered for evil. Wow! We were actually birthed from the Word of God and we aren’t subject to the power of the sin nature’s urgings ever again.

Colossians 1:13 (AMPC)
[The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

Does that sound like a “maybe it will work if you are perfect enough” kind of promise?

Absolutely not!
➢ God defeated the enemy in our lives, utterly and completely.
➢ God created us into a whole new creation that is just like Christ.
➢ Our new nature cannot be corrupted because it doesn’t rely on us for the power to succeed.
➢ God actually took us out of the rules and power of this natural world and transferred us to His kingdom, with all its supernatural rules and promises.

The true freedom is seeing that victory is not based on our righteousness or our perfection. Our victory is already here! Jesus Christ completely and irreversibly completed it on the cross. We get the benefit of walking in that victory, not ever having to earn it. This is not a “maybe” gospel; this is a free “YOU WIN” Gospel. God can be depended upon, so rejoice and enjoy the benefits as His Beloved daughter/Precious Son!

Love,
Jen
