Week 3 – Day 21

Dear Friend,

There is no substitute for the presence of God. Simply being in the presence of the Holy Spirit will accomplish more on the inside of a person than years in the natural. As I took time out to pray and see what else to share with you His sweet presence came in my living room. I had my worship songs on and the words, “Show me your glory” filtered in. Oh His glory, His presence—it is so sweet and peaceful.

For years, I would stay busy all the time because the silence was uncomfortable for me. If I wasn’t physically busy doing, I stayed active thinking, all for the purpose of avoiding the quiet where the fears would bother me. The night-times were difficult because there wasn’t much to do, but worry always seem to have time for me then. It isn’t like I walked around shaking with fear; I just had a lack of peace. My mind seemed unable to rest. I couldn’t even tell you everything that my mind found to worry about; it just did constantly.

As I began to renew my mind with scriptures, confession and taking my needs to Him; my private time began to change as well. As an adopted child, I struggled with the dark and the fear of being alone. Yet when you are the most alone, God is so tangible and real. If you stay busy, surrounded by people and devices you can miss the moments that He is longing to fellowship with you, blessing you with His presence.

The Holy Spirit lives on the inside of us and we were told that in the last days God would pour out His Spirit on us. The promise of being able to worship God is Spirit and Truth has come to pass, it is available to us now. Yet at times we are too busy running from the feeling of agitation, that we miss our breakthrough.

Go online, download a faith-filled playlist of songs that worship the greatness of God. Stay away from the stuff that only talks about us and our response to Him or about how bad our lives are as sinners. Those rob God of His glory. Focus on songs that declare His power, love and awesomeness. Once you have a good playlist, find some time just for you and Him. Put the music in your ears and just bask in His presence. There is something wonderful about focusing everything on who He is and His greatness. Your problems will begin to recede, even if just for a moment. Peace will descend and you will fellowship with God the way He meant for it to be way back in the Garden of Eden.

Think about it, God came into the garden every evening just to walk with Adam and Eve. That is why we were created, to spend time with Him. He is a loving Father. All loving fathers are excited when their kids come home to spend time with them. Our Father God isn’t any different. He just wants you to lay down the load you carry and strip it off for a few minutes. He longs for you to sit down or walk the floor with worship running through your ears and words of love on your tongue.

God is real, just like us. We need to be real and transparent with Him. Within this openness His glory can fall on you and you will walk away from your time filled with faith and peace renewed.

I encourage you to stop reading and go do it. He is waiting for you.

Love,
Jen

Meditation:
Acts 2:17 (AMPC)
And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels] and your young men shall see visions (divinely granted appearances), and your old men shall dream [divinely suggested] dreams.
John 4:24 (AMPC)
God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).
