“That’s dirty. Don’t eat it!”

Week 2 – Day 13

Dear Friend,

Have you ever seen a parent reach down to stop a child from eating something they picked up from the floor? They have them drop it and then wipe their hands saying, “No, don’t eat that. It’s dirty.” Interesting. God does the same thing for us.

Sometimes those parents don’t get to their child in time and have to actually fish it out of their mouth so they don’t swallow it, then sending them on their way safe and ready to continue playing. God has to fish things out of our speech all the time. We go about this earthly life picking up fears and doubt from experiences of those around us or by what the enemy has tried to put on us personally. The Lord sees it and speaks out, telling us, “Do not believe that, it isn’t true. Believe this, it is better for you.”

For example, you could have worrisome thoughts on a regular basis. Your family tells you that you have always been that way. They share with you that anxiety runs in your family. Without all that we know about God being our Father and that we can live in the Eternal Life Jesus paid for, we might believe and continue feeding on those thoughts.

2 Timothy 1:7 tells us another way, an actual truth that God wants us to concentrate on and speak.

2 Timothy 1:7 (AMPC)

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

God is leaning down saying, “Don’t eat those lies about your life. They aren’t true. Instead of fear, I have given you the powerful Holy Spirit to actually LIVE inside you. Feed on that instead. That is better for you.”

Here are some truths about the Holy Spirit in your life:

  • God sent Him to you with a purpose of caring for YOU. (John 14:16)
  • You will know Him because He will remain with you and actually live within you. (John 14:17)
  • This is the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. (The same one!! Living inside of you!!!! Romans 8:11) Think about the awesomeness of this truth. The same Spirit! Mind-blowing. This makes you unstoppable in Him!
  • God sealed you with the Holy Spirit. You are protected by this Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 1:13)
  • He is greater than anything or anyone that comes against you, so you overcome all trouble. (1 John 4:4)
  • Reminder: He is the complete opposite of the spirit of fear. He is power, love, a calm and well-balanced mind, discipline and self-control… inside of YOU! (2 Timothy 1:7)

These are the Words that God our Father wants us to put inside our mouths. He wants us to speak to ourselves about these truths, making them reality in our thinking. So the next time you have a thought or someone tries to tell you the opposite remember that your Father is picking you up, taking that out of your mouth and telling you, “That’s not good for you. Feed on this truth instead.” Then go on your way just like that little one that continued playing after his parent cleaned him up.

John 14:16-17 (AMP)
16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.
Romans 8:11 (AMPC)
And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.
Ephesians 1:13 (AMP)
In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and [as a result] believed in Him, were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit [the One promised by Christ] as owned and protected [by God].
1 John 4:4 (AMP)
Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].

You will now begin to see minimal prompts in your journal sections. This is because you have two weeks of revelation built inside of you. It is time let the Holy Spirit direct your journaling. Begin the personal intimacy building with your Lord as the days unfold.
