Begin the change…

We have spent the past FEW weeks concentrating on God as a Father who can be trusted and relied upon. Going forward with this newfound trust, we need to pay close attention to all the tools He has put in place for us to use on this journey of victory. The foundation these next few days provide you with years of stability. For some of you these will seem redundant and your mind will scream, “I already know this!” Perfect! Build upon that knowledge and strengthen your skills. It is interesting that police officers and military person are required to “requalify” with their weapons on a regular basis, especially after a major incident. These next few sessions are for you to hone in on those skills God gave you to cut through the time wasters of the enemy and like “Q” from James Bond, maybe show you a few weapons you didn’t know were available to you.

Week 3 – Day 15

Dear Friend,
Once you have accepted Christ as your Savior a supernatural change takes place. The dormant part of you latches onto the Holy Spirit and you begin to live with all the benefits as a Child of God. I wish at this time that meant that your mind completely changed and you never had another temper tantrum, feeling of fear, concentrated on worrisome thoughts or felt the physical manifestation of anger or anxiety. There is an amazing difference though, you now actually have power over all of these things. As you begin to learn more about your rights, strengths and benefits through the Holy Spirit you will begin to change and experience the stability and peace you seek on a regular basis.

2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that we are a new creation in Christ Jesus and the old, previous moral and spiritual condition has passed away and now all things are from God. Wow! That is a lot to take in. The person who would fly off the handle with pressure and fear doesn’t exist anymore. Instead there is the God-person (fill in your name here), who meets those feelings with faith in God and a Holy Spirit of self-control.
What? Why don’t I feel that way then?

The key word there is “feel”. Faith is about believing in what God has said about you before you see it. A woman can be pregnant with a new life long before this ever becomes known to those around her, or even to her. When you accepted Christ, the Christ (fill in your name here) is as real as a new pregnancy. The enemy knows what happened and knows the new authority you walk in. The last thing he wants is for you to know all the power you have on your behalf. So instead he ramps up your emotional side, because you have been used to living by your “feelings” instead of by your faith.

Ken Copeland once said, “The real you is the stable you. The other is the imposter.” Wow! We have already determined that people have placed labels on you and even tried to convince you that God isn’t a loving Father. It is time to change your view of who you truly are. If the Bible doesn’t describe you a certain way or tell you that the real “you” acts the way you are acting, then you can change because the power of God is in you.
This is the difficult part. The place when you recognize that your behavior is your choice and if you choose differently God will show up on your behalf with change for good. Will it be easy? Honestly, no. But will it be worth it? ABSOLUTELY. Over 16 years ago, I became tired of the yo-yo emotions that my life had always been. I took the same journey you are on and God delivered me completely from the spirit of fear. In its place He gave me stability, peace, soundness of mind, confidence, joy and a deep walk with the Holy Spirit. Remember I said, “He gave me”, not I did it. God did the work in me, but He needed my willingness and permission first.

Similar to the heiress I mentioned earlier, you have a great inheritance of power and peace for an Eternal Life full of great things beyond your wildest dreams, but only you can accept that position and all the benefits. You have to agree with God every time He shows you a new area of change. This is the hard part, because part of us wants to keep the old will and pride. Unfortunately that old lie of a life didn’t provide for us what we truly wanted.
So, today, you stand at the crossroads of change. The choice belongs to you. One way continues the cycle that you are on with minimal change, but with a God who will always love you. The other way is full of healing, peace, reconciliation of relationships thought dead, an introduction to the real “you” in Christ and ALL the benefits that Jesus Christ died for you to walk in here on earth. Which one do you want?
Take a moment and pray the prayer below, dedicating yourself to the plan of God and then let’s begin.

Love,
Jen

Heavenly Father,
I thank you for your power and your goodness. You can see the real me, completely reborn in You and Your Eternal Life. Make the changes in me. Give me the strength and power to walk in all that you have for me. I trust you to care and protect me in this process, to bring me the right teachers while removing the wrong influences. I trust you and the power of the Holy Spirit to change me from glory to glory so that I can truly be free in every area of my life.
I lay down my pride and my way of doing things. I submit myself to YOU and Your Word. It is final authority for me; settling every argument and producing the freedom I long for.
In Jesus’ Name I pray,
Amen.

Meditation:

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 (AMPC)
17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
18 But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].
2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMP)
And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.
Ephesians 2:10 (AMPC)
For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].
